ABOUT THE COURSE
This course is designed to help students who want to study Computing as a one-year course or as a full-time study plan and continue with the Extended Diploma. The qualification is worth UCAS tariff points and is the size of 1.5 A Levels. Learners will develop a common core of computing knowledge and study areas such as the role of hardware and software, how system components interact and how data in a system is used, website development using HTML, PHP, JavaScript, CSS, system security, the impact and use of social media, and developing computer graphics.
For entry onto the NCC Education L3DC qualification, Students must meet the following entry requirements:
- Completed their GCSE/IGCSE ‘O’ Levels or an equivalent* qualification in their own country and passed 5 subjects with minimum grades of ‘C’, ‘4’ or equivalent* in each. These should include Mathematics and English.
- Have a valid score of 5.5 or above in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination or equivalent for students whose first language is not English. Alternatively, students can take the free NCC Education Higher English Placement Test which is administered by our Accredited Partner Centres.
The Level 3 Diploma in Computing syllabus and assessment is suitable for students aged 16-19 as well as adult learners.
*Centres need to provide evidence to justify any equivalency decision (both qualification equivalency and grade equivalency) they make pertaining to any enrolments via non-GCSE or non-standard routes.
Assessments for all units will be offered in a number of assessment cycles throughout the year. The units are all assessed by either examination or assignments.

- To provide 1st line (Services desk/Help Desk) Technical Support to staff and customers within the business, assisting them with hardware, software, and Day to Day Support via phone, email, or desktop takeover.
- To provide IT Technical support; answering support queries either onsite or via phone or email and using help Desk Tools
- To maintain a high degree of customer Technical service for all support queries and adhere to all service management principles.
- To take ownership of user IT problems and be proactive and reactive when dealing with user issues.
